Mazars in Mexico welcomed Charles Batte, Your Big Year Ambassador

Your Big Year is a global competition founded by Smaller Earth and supported by Mazars and the Kauffman Foundation, both of which are active in supporting initiatives that seek to promote entrepreneurship.

The quest to become Smaller Earth’s Your Big Year Ambassador began with 60,000 applicants from all over the world.

The winner of the competition receives a once in a lifetime opportunity, an all expenses paid trip for 12 months travelling across five continents fulfilling a number of social entrepreneurship projects. During their journey, the ambassador will work on local community projects and have the opportunity to meet political leaders, innovators and like-minded entrepreneurs.

Your Big Year 2012 winner is Charles Batte, 25, from Kampala, Uganda, who holds ambitions to become a world-leading heart surgeon and is currently studying human medicine and surgery at Makere University.

Charles visited Mexico City, in which he got to know all of our Mazars staff, and where he encouraged us to work with a new business model, that aims to help our communities.

He also visited the Technology and Innovation Center at América Móvil, in which he got to relate with young entrepreneurs like himself, and where he asked:  What type of entrepreneur are you going to be? Do you want to be the type of entrepreneur that amasses wealth, accumulates profit and becomes extremely rich? Or do you want to be the entrepreneur who takes up Hidalgo´s spirit and works for his people and improves their lives?

At Mazars, we take upon the commitment to work within a Corporate Social Responsibility frame, and seek to promote this type of initiatives that perfectly fit with the Mazars DNA.
