Global Mobility reminder: The date for updating the employer registration certificate is near

Any company in Mexico that hires foreigners must update their employer registration certificate on a yearly basis. This is done after filing the previous fiscal year's annual tax return (in this case, fiscal year 2023), between April and May.

Failure to comply with this obligation has repercussions that include:

  • All company-initiated visas and paperwork may be suspended.
  • Delays in the arrival or hiring of foreign employees.
  • Delays in the process of obtaining the Federal Register of Taxpayers and Social Security Number (NSS).
  • Tax compliance delays for foreign employees and payment of fines.
  • Jeopardizing the permanent residence of foreign companies with Mexico-based employees who continue to receive compensation from abroad.
